Over the past decade, Mercy Foundation has:
- Trained and successfully established 50 street boys and girls
in a variety of vocations including Carpentry, Dressmaking,
Auto Electronics, Welding and Hair Dressing.
- Awarded recognition by Ghana's Community-based Poverty Reduction
Project (CPRP) for training 25 troubled
street children in Agricultural Skills.
- Designed and performed an innovative programme, titled "Street
Children Play Safe: STIs, HIV/AIDS," funded by
Ghana's AIDS Commission.
- Assisted 300 women with
entrepreneurial education and access to micro-credit loans.
- Established pre-schools which have so far served 250 marginalized and deprived
children.
- Integrated 160 drop-outs into
mainstream schools, both public and private.
- Included program graduates in the teaching and training of current Mercy Foundation children, creating a more sustainable and encouraging community.
- Formed ties with traditional leaders, NGOs, CBOs, religious groups, and government agencies such as the Police Service, the National Youth Council, District Assemblies, and the Ghana National Commission on Children.
In recognition of these achievements, Mercy Foundation International received the GNCC (Ghana National Commission on Children) Award for the Western Region in both 2003 and 2004.
